Since seventies to 1992 Optical Workshop was included into Astronomical Institute of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. This connection had influence of our work. Frequently the orders concerning of imaging systems, astronomical optics and telescopes appeared in our production. During its existence many such elements were made. Our task was to offer lens, mirrors and their systems in small numbers with required properties-atypical correction of aberrations, focal lengths etc. which cannot be found in standard catalogues. After 1990 this sortiment of products became even broader. Lenses were made to diameter 300 mm, mirrors to 450-500 mm. They were used not only in astronomy but also in physics, biology, chemistry, meteorology, industry. For amateur astronomers we are producing common aspherical mirrors, lens objectives and catadioptrics. Many of them were sold abroad. Since 1990 we have designed and produced highly corrected catadioptrics with respect to future development of CCD imaging machinery. Such telescopes should provide diffraction images across the fields of view 1-2 degrees and spectral range 390-760 nm. Some examples of optical systems worth to mention:
- 1993 - Two prototypes of Klevcov telescope 190/1830. This aplanatic system is consisted of spherical primary, Mangin mirror and meniscus.
- 1995 - Four telescopes of Ralph Field (Popov) of 190/1550. These telescopes are easy to construct, composed of spherical primary and secondary and meniscus in front of secondary.
- 1997 - Flat field camera based on hyperboloidal primary diam 330 mm and excentricity - 1.96 and dublet corrector placed in convergent beam. Equivalent focal length was 1450 mm. System provides images to 25 micrometers across the fields of 60 mm.
- 1998 - Two aplanatic Field (Popov) telescopes 190/1650 with correctors.
- 2000 - Three aplanatic Field (Popov) telescopes 305/3050 with field of view of diam 50 mm. System provides diffraction limited images within range of 390-760 nm nearly on the whole this field.
- 2003 - One non-aplanatic Field (Popov) of diam 305/3050. Repairs and retouches of meniscus were made that year on Maksutov-Cassegrain 260/2600. System had separated secondary from meniscus.
- 2005 - Two common Dall-Kirkhams of 260/2700 with dublet corrector of off-axis aberrations. Both telescopes were fitted with diam 60 mm secondary, with which, after removing larger secondary and corrector, primary gave the system of focal length 4600 mm with 25% central obstruction. This variant was intended for planetary observation and was ordered by our customer.
- 2006 - Aplanatic Dall-Kirkham of diam. 320/3350 with dublet corrector of coma and astigmatismus.
Since 1990 many paraboloidal mirrors for Newtons, Cassegrain systems to diameter 450 mm were sold together with 190/570 Maksutov camera. For spectroscopy several off-axis Kutters and Maksutov-Newtonians were made. Latter systems provides superb contrast images. This year (2008) work on common Maksutov-Cassegrain 240/2200 with separated secondary from meniscus is in progress. The same is valid for Field (Popov) of 270/2200 and Cassegrain 270/2450 with dublet corrector of Volosov in front of the system. Simulations of residual aberrations of these systems are shown on pictures.
In nineties this workshop has developed the mass production technology of diam 500 mm mirrors for astronomy of high energy particles.
