The Optical Development Workshop in Turnov is a service workplace of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It was founded originaly for the needs of the production of the astronomical optics in the year 1965.

At present this workplace meets the special requirements of other institutes of the Academy of Sciences and of further development workplaces for the production of unique optical elements.

Among the most successful results of past nearly 30 years are counted e. g. the Šolc birefringent  filters destined for astrortomical purposes, electroformed X-ray optics and participation in space Intercoamos projects Vega and Phobos.

It was in the recent years when this workplace was extended gradually and equipped with the modern production and measuring technology of Carl Zeiss Jena. About two years ago we have got the Fisba meassuring system.
