The Optical Development Workshop is a detached department of the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Our primary focus is on the research and development of high-precision optics for the uses of the Academy. In addition, the ODW designs and manufactures optics for other scientific and commercial purposes, servicing mainly a number of clients from the Czech Republic as well as foreign clientele.

Our product range covers a large array of optical components including standard astronomic devices, high-precision components for demanding scientific experiments, laser and x-ray optics and extremely narrow-banded tuneable filters. We also provide spectrometers and spectrophotometers designed for technical purposes and biological research.

Production of such a wide range of components while maintaining the best quality is affordable only thanks to our individual approach and strict quality assurance during all manufacturing phases.

Throughout the designing and manufacturing process we capitalize on highly experienced and skilled specialists taking full advantage of state of the art technologies. The ODW also provides service for astronomical and other optical devices, including precise measuring and testing. We also offer consultations and expert opinions in the field of optics. Since the foundation, more than 30 years ago, we have kept true to our motto "Quality Above All", winning acclaim with numerous unique devices and a number of prototypes.
